Earth to Earth 2
I have made a Jar from a blend of local clays. This raw, unfired Jar is to be left at the top of Carn Treliwyd to weather away. In my work I am inspired by landscape and I have placed this Jar to venerate it’s surrounding.
There are cycles within nature some quick, others slow and this art work I hope illustrates one cycle as a metaphor for all. Made from the earth, the wind and rain will return it back to the earth. Clay in turn is created from the weathering of igneous rocks upon which this Jar has been placed.
The act of placing a Jar immediately draws attention to it’s location and it’s surroundings. This I find fascinating and it has been theoriesed that the placing of Neolithic megaliths was motivated by a desire to venerate natural places.
